As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), Dyfed Powys Police were investigating the 'unexplained' death of a Tenby woman. The partially-clothed body of 32-year-old Lucy Rebecca Harmer was recovered from the sea at the resort's South Beach on Wednesday evening. The discovery was made by a member of the public at approximately 7 pm, at the Giltar end of the beach. A post mortem was being carried out at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, yesterday to establish the cause of death. Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins, who is leading the investigation, said that Lucy was local to Tenby and well-known in the town. "Her movements for Wednesday are unknown and the circumstances of her death are unexplained," he said. "An officer is with her family and through them and her closest friends we are trying to establish a picture of her movements on Wednesday. "We appeal to anyone who saw her in the Tenby area, or anywhere else, or may have even spoken to her, to contact us." Lucy, who has a nine-year-old daughter, is described as five-foot to five-foot six tall, slim build, with shoulder length brown hair, and was believed to have been wearing a grey hooded top, denim jeans and white trainers. However, when Lucy - who was known to have liked walking the beach - was found, her outer clothing was missing. "This clothing is still missing, and if found, members of the public are urged not to touch it, but to contact the police," said Detective Superintendent Wilkins. The officer was unable to confirm whether or not Lucy had sustained any injuries and whether the circumstances of her death were suspicious. "We are approaching the investigation with an open mind," he said. "It would be inaccurate to say otherwise. We need to establish what has happened to Lucy." Any person with information that could assist police with their inquiries is asked to telephone 0845 330 2000.
