Emily Watts from Lamphey Primary School has been picked as one of the winners in the birthday card competition set by Oakwood Theme Park to celebrate their 20th birthday, and to say thank you, Oakwood is giving her the keys to the park for the day. Three designs were chosen and the winning designs will now be used to create Oakwood's official birthday card. The cards will be sent out as part of the celebrations as well as being sold at the park, with all proceeds going to Oakwood's charity of the year, Myasthenia Gravis Association, which supports sufferers of the so called 'Rag Doll Illness'. Local Pembrokeshire artist Annabel Greenhalgh and Paddy McNamara, managing director at Oakwood Theme Park, judged the entries and said they were looking for innovative designs that really summed up the whole Oakwood experience. Mrs. Palmer, headteacher of Lamphey Primary School, said: "When we first heard about the competition to design a birthday card to celebrate Oakwood's 20th birthday we were very keen to support it. We are absolutely delighted that Emily's design was chosen as a winner. All the children are very excited about going to Oakwood after the half-term holiday. It should be a memorable day out for both the staff and the children. Emily is a lovely girl and since winning the competition she has become the most popular girl in school. We are all so proud of her." Emily said: "I thought of the idea for my card design because we know that Oakwood makes people smile, so I drew lots of smiley faces. I'm looking forward to going to Oakwood with all the children at Lamphey School because I know we'll have a really happy day." Paddy McNamara said: "We received lots of great designs which made our job very difficult to do. What made the winning designs stand out was the fact that they captured what Oakwood is all about - Fun!" Two other winners came from Maesmarchog Primary School, Neath, and Ysgol Dewi Sant, St. Davids.
