Members of the public are being asked to join in with a fascinating stroll in Pembroke tomorrow (Saturday) and help raise some money to support its unique heritage.

Pembroke Town Walls Trust are organising a sponsored walk around the walled town from 10 am to 12 noon, starting and finishing at Tanyard Youth Project on the Commons.

Samba Doc will beat their drums to start the walk and St Mary’s bells will peal to finish it.

In the mean time you can walk around the walls at your own pace and as many times as you would like to, take a map with you to identify all the many significant historic aspects of the walls and the town and look at the work that the Town Walls Trust is doing to restore them.

There will be a café in the Tanyard to keep you going and an opportunity to see their new and exciting project, Postcards and Podcasts, an intergenerational IT project telling the stories and history of Pembroke.

So, your stroll can be as leisurely or as vigorous as you would like.

You can come alone or with the whole family – bring the dog, the baby in the pushchair, granny in her wheelchair.

All walkers will have an ‘I’m a Strolling Stone’ sticker on them and be given a map of the walk.

Sponsor forms can be downloaded from the Pembroke Town Walls Trust’s website under the news section http://www.pembroketownwallstrust.org.uk/news Bring your sponsor form along to Tanyard to register from 9.30 am.

The Pembroke Town Walls Trust’s pilot project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Cadw.

The early stage of the North Walls Project is being funded by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Enhancing Pembrokeshire Fund.
