Members of Narberth Women's Institute have worked closely with the local primary school at Narberth producing 'Story Sacks' to be used by the staff and pupils and in future with parents. This project started a few months ago when members of the WI were approached by the headteacher to discuss this possibility. A number of them attended an evening at the school to see what was involved and the purpose of the sacks. Story Sacks are full of exciting resources to support interesting, well-known and new stories. Firstly, the story sacks will be used by the class teachers in introducing a story and this will in time be followed by parents becoming confident to enjoy reading the books to their children. The resources in the sacks ensure that parents succeed to share the books in an interesting and enjoyable way. Narberth CP School offers education through both the English and Welsh medium, with five English classes and five Welsh classes. By today a number of stories written are available in both languages and therefore these sacks have been produced bilingually. Each sack also contains a tape with the stories recorded on and these have been done by the year 6 pupils in Class 5 and Dosbarth 5. Mrs. E. Davies, headteacher, is very grateful to the members of the WI for their support. "The quality of the sacks that the members have produced has been wonderful, very attractive and hard wearing," she said. "I know that this will be an excellent resource for the children to further develop their education." WI members who made the Story Sacks were Meg Turner, Gladys Jones, Jean Morgan, Jean Dorras, Mrs. Ann Phillips and Mrs. R. Landragin. Pictured above with some of the WI members are pupils Megan, Saffron, Sean, Matthew, Charlotte, Jonathon, Chloe, Hannah, Theo, Jessica, Cara, Connor, Anna, Sali, staff member Mrs. E.
