Sir, It looks increasingly likely that a supermarket is coming to New Hedges. But why New Hedges? Are the outskirts of Tenby and Saundersfoot going to be a copycat of so so many towns in England and Wales - do we want that? I accept the need for development, but why isn't Kilgetty and the Co-op treated as a serious alternative? Kilgetty needs employment and upgrading; it is in an ideal position between the major population spots (Narberth - Tenby - Saundersfoot). And the Co-op, well I can't understand why they can't get permission to develop their outdated store; it is off the road (yet so near) and on poor land which wouldn't impact on the environment (as New Hedges would). So why not Kilgetty? The idea of a park and ride scheme at New Hedges is good, yet, it is that (and only that) which may allow a major development in through the back door - park and ride could be introduced anyway without 'sweeteners' from a major company.
William Rogers, Saundersfoot.
