Carmarthen Quins 19 pts. Whitland 1st XV 3
Although the Quins had the upper hand, the scoreline does flatter them somewhat and does not reflect the way in Whitland played a true 110 per cent performance.
Carmarthen scored their opening try in this Swalec Division One West game after 16 minutes when centre Tristan Davies's grubber through for winger Ryan Llewellyn to win the foot race for an unconverted try.
Whitland hit back and after a nice break by centre Emyr Williams, Carmarthen were caught offside behind and outside-half Carwyn Jones stepped up to slot the penalty over.
With half-time a whistle away, Carmarthen broke Whitland's defence to increase their lead at half-time when centre Neil Wilcox touched down and Gareth Cull added the conversion to give the half-time score 12 points to three.
Carwyn Davies was harshly yellow carded early in the second half and during this time, Carmarthen scored a very controversial try when second row Martyn Morgan dragged the ball over after being tackle. Cull added the conversion.
This was the last score in the match and even when replacement prop Romeo Colella was red carded, Whitland finished the stronger and pushed the Quins all the way - well done boys
