Pembroke Youth 5 pts. Whitland Youth 45
Whitland Youth produced one of the finest halves of rugby seen in many a year; their total dominance at the set-piece, power at the breakdown and angles of running and vision was a pure joy to watch on Friday evening.
Whitland ran in seven tries in just 28 minutes, two each by centre Lewis Thomas and scrum-half Aled Rees and one each for number eight and captain Michael Jones and wingers Dafydd Williams and Duncan Evans, with centre James Stephenson converting five.
With the half-time whistle, Whitland made seven changes to ease the pressure on a shellshocked Pembroke side, who did rally and make more of a game in the second half, crossing for one try by Andrew Morgan, to leave the full-time score 45 points to five to the young Borderers, who had hoped for a harder run-out before their Webb Ellis Welsh Cup game.
