On May 18, the Carnival Queen choosing disco was held at Whitland Dairies Sports and Social Club. There was a very good attendance which made the task a very difficult one. The judges were: Jimmy Morgan (county councillor), Sgt Bond of Dyfed-Powys Police and Rena from the Station House.
The winners were:
Carnival Queen - Vicky Owens of Market Street, Whitland.
Carnival Queen Attendants - Charlotte Enoch, of Spring Gardens, Whitland; Tammy Williams, of Spring Gardens, Whitland.
Rose Queen - Laura Rees, of Spring Gardens, Whitland.
Rose Queen Escort - Thurstan Gascoigne, of King Edward Street, Whitland.
Fairy Queen - Sian Stephens, of Lon Hywel, Whitland.
Prince Charmings - Liam Price, of North Road, Whitland; Nico Setaro, of Trevaugh Lodge, Whitland.
Whitland Week will be held between July 28 and August 5, there is a full programme of events hopefully suiting everybody. This year it is hoped that Whitland in Bloom will make a come back.
The winners will be announced and prizes and trophies will be presented to the winners at Parc Dr. Owen after the carnival on Saturday, August 4. The various categories for entries will be announced in the near future.
Proceeds from Whitland Week go towards the development and maintenance of Whitland's leisure and sports area, Parc Dr. Owen.
