Whitland travelled to Brynmawr last Saturday and came away with three points after winning 38 points to nil - a victory which keeps them in touch at the top of the table. The Borderers led 14-0 at the break, following tries by centre Lee Glanville and scrum-half Gareth Davies, with outside-half Eifion Roberts converting both of them. The second half was another scrappy affair and after 20 minutes the only points that had been added came from a penalty by Roberts. After 25 minutes, due to an injury to centre Barry John, Aled Davies joined the fray from the bench, moving into his accustomed position of outside-half, with Roberts moving to take over the centre berth. And he wasted no time in making his presence felt, orchestrating three late tries, including one for himself. The others came after two well-executed breaks, which sent over Glanville for his second try and back row man Johnny Koloi for the other. Again Roberts added the three conversions, to leave the final score 38 points to nil. Team fielded: Gavin Morris, Jack Tremlett, Lee Glanville, Barry John (Aled Davies), Will Davies, Eifion Roberts, Gareth Davies (Andrew Jenkins), Gareth Williams, Amo Tauialo (Jason Evans), Richard Smith, Carwyn Davies, Randal Williams, John Bowen, Phil Morgan, capt., Johnny Koloi. Replacements not used - Dafydd Lewis and Jonathan Griffiths. Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland entertain Aberdare at home in the Konica Minolta Cup. Next Tuesday, December 21, they play away at Bridgend Athletic. A supporters' bus will leave the club at 5.15 pm - names to Julie at Mrs. Monty (M. L. Davies) by Monday. Also, on Monday, December 27, Whitland entertain Carmarthen Athletic in a league match, with a 2.30 pm kick-off.
