Whitland 1st XV 45 Llangennech 3
Whitland carried the momentum they gained from the Quins match and out played Llangennech in all aspects of the game, running in six converted tries for the bonus point win which takes them up into third in the league behind the 'big two'.
Whitland opened the scoring in Saturday's Swalec Division One West game in the eighth minute after a break by outside-half Emyr Williams who gave a try scoring pass to flanker Celt Thomas. Williams added the conversion.
Llangennech's only points of the game came after 12 minutes when Mark Jones kicked a penalty.
Whitland's second try came when number eight John Bowen picked up at the base of a scrum and after driving forward passed back inside to scrum-half Gary Davies who brought Cristiaan Roets in off the wing to burst through towards the line, passing to flanker Jack Mason who touched down again. Williams added the two points and then also added a penalty after 36 minutes.
Just on half-time, Whitland increased their tally to 24 points after a great line ball from Carwyn Davies, centre Lee Glanville broke blind and brought in fullback Dan Newton at pace who passed back inside for winger Aled Jones to score. Williams converted again.
Four minutes into the secondhalf after a patient build up Williams made a break and threw a long pass which split the defence and centre Glanville went over for his first try, with Williams again adding the conversion.
Midway through the half Glanville and Aled Jones combined to pull the Llangennech defence wide and a quick ball back right saw Carwyn Davies show good handling skills to give to replacement prop Gareth Williams who threw an outrageous dummy to stroll over for Whitland's fifth try which again Williams converted.
To round things off after Llangennech had cleared to touch, winger Roets took a quick lineout to Dan Newton who coming at pace outstripped the cover defence and passed back inside for Glanville to cross for his second and with Williams adding the further two points, it gave Whitland a victory of 45 -3.
