The Whitland Garden Festival, held at Ysgol Dyffryn Taf recently, was a huge success.

Pupils showed visitors around the two gardens on site that they had designed and built.

They also took the opportunity to buy a few new plants on the day!

They were joined at the school by the young entrepreneurs from Whitland CP School who were selling their own homemade bird feeders to raise money for their school.

A range of art and craft stalls and plant stalls were also selling a wide range of products and plants.

Carmarthenshire County Council provided a trailer with recycling and composting information, manned by school staff and volunteers.

Delicious strawberries were sold by Rotary members and other refreshments were provided by Con Harries, of Whitland.

The nine open gardens in the town were situated within a 100-yard route and varied from vegetables to contemporary gravel style.

There was a splendid array of perennials and annuals in flower, along with a large variety of small water features.

They were described as "excellent, wonderful gardens," by the town's Mayor, Clr. Diane Evans.

All the money raised at the festival will be distributed locally by the Rotary.

The organisers would like to thank all those who contributed to the day and all those who came along to support the event.
