Despite winning on two rinks and drawing on one, Whitland lost a close and entertaining match against Haverfordwest last Saturday.

The excellent skip Roger Price and his rink were in fine form, winning their encounter with Alan Whitehouse, Huw Nicholas, Shane Webster and Gareth Davies by 16 shots.

Despite valiant efforts by Whitland's other three rinks, the handicap proved to be too big to overcome.

Glyndwr 'The Kitty' Thomas, and his boys Mathew Court, Aeron Thomas and Dan Jenner were in fine form once again, all responding well to Glyndwr's leadership. They had a comfortable win by 22 shots to 14 over PDS Jenkins and his rink.

Steve Reese's rink of Nigel Davies, Peter Wills and Colin 'Awesome' Wynn showed their determination by winning by two shots, 21-19, over the experienced Richard O'Leary and co. Despite being 10 shots to four adrift at the tea interval, they upped their game in the later stages invoking 'sage remarks' from the opposition as to what was put in the tea!

Mathew James, John Rees, Chris Court and Emyr 'Carpets' James displayed their determined mettle with an excellent recovery from a 10-shot deficit after 10 ends to an honourable draw, 19-all, against the experienced Dai Pollock and his rink. Young Chris Court, making his first team debut, gave a competent performance - well done Chris.

Whitland Bowls Club would like to thank their Haverfordwest friends for joining them in a pig roast in the evening, which was enjoyed by all present.
