CCW's 'My Special Place' campaign has already generated an astonishing response as the people of Wales show a special appreciation of some of our most beautiful natural attractions. But now they want to know about your winter wonderland - the best place to visit for some peace and solitude during the colder months, or the ideal walk to shed some of those festive excesses. The campaign has been a tremendous success simply because of its entirely simple appeal - everyone has their special place. Over 7,000 votes have been received since CCW invited people to nominate their special place on the website and at various events over the summer. The usual suspects of Snowdon, Gower and the Elan Valley featured strongly, but it was Tenby that was declared the surprise winner in terms of votes cast. Some of Wales' best secrets were also revealed as people chose their favourite sleepy bay or lonely peak. And it has certainly become clear that there is a strong link between people and the natural attractions around them. In many cases, this special bond has inspired beautiful and poignant pieces of descriptive writing as people try to express what it is that makes their own special place.
