Narberth based disabilities communications agency 'Welsh Focus' hosted the West Wales leg of the All Wales Posture and Mobility Service, Wheelchair Consultation on June 8 in Narberth.

As an initial step in this process, the Kafka Brigade, an independent organisation supporting NHS Wheelchair Services, has been commissioned to conduct a number of focus groups on behalf of ALAS to find out what service users value, and what service users think are the priorities for improvement.

The purpose of this project is to develop a detailed understanding of the service user experience of NHS wheelchair services in Wales.

All Wales Posture and Mobility Service Board member, Henry Langen, used Welsh Focus to co-ordinate the event at Hotel Plas Hyfryd.

Twenty-two wheelchair users and PA/carers attended the consultation from all over West Wales to air their views of the service and the NHS in particular.

The result of the consultation will be published when all three consultations have been completed.

Welsh Focus is presently building a data base of wheelchair users. Any wheelchair user who would like to be on this data base can do so by emailing [email protected]">[email protected] or writing to Henry Langen, 5 Church Street, Narberth, SA67 7BH.

The data base will be a means of notifying wheelchair users of any changes or events/consultations and the like. Confidentiality assured of all data given.
