It’s a busy month in Tenby Library, with lots going on for both adults and children.
The Summer Reading Challenge is still running until the end of September, so if you have started it there is still plenty of time to finish and collect your medal and certificate. Once you have all three sets of stickers, you will see who committed the crime!
Baby Rhyme Time starts up again on Friday, September 8, at 11 am, for babies and young children. There are stories, songs and some craft activities: there’s no need to book and there’s no payment needed, just drop in and have some fun.
Coding Week starts on September 18 and on Friday, September 22 there is an after-school activity which involves coding a robot. This is just for children aged 10 and over with an interest in coding. There are only limited places available, but if two children want to work together, they can share a robot. For more information or to book this, please contact Kath on [email protected] or contact staff at Tenby Library.
As part of Tenby Arts Festival, local author Dan Anthony is holding a workshop on Writing for Children on Monday, September 25, at 6 pm. Dan has written the Rugby Zombie trilogy and the Steve’s Dreams series, so this is sure to be interesting and informative for anyone who wants to write for children. This is a free event, and there’s no need to book.
It’s National Poetry Day on Thursday, September 28, and to mark it we will be offering tea and coffee in the library along with a selection of poetry books for your delectation. If you have a favourite poet, let us know in advance and we will see if we can find some of their work.
There are more books and beverages on Saturday, September 30, when we are holding our by-now traditional Macmillan Coffee Morning and Grand Book Sale in the hall from 10 am - 12 noon. Bring plenty of cash and some sturdy bags for all your purchases and leave plenty of room for nibbles!
There is another First Click computing course for complete beginners on Thursday and Friday, September 28 and 29, 10 am - 1 pm. First Click covers the basics such as using a mouse, keyboard, email and the internet. These courses are run in very small groups, with four learners at most, so you can personalise the course to your own needs. Booking is essential, so please talk to library staff to book your place.
Finally, our former Digital Champion Volunteer, Simon, has left us for an exciting new opportunity and we wish him well. We have a new volunteer who will start the Drop-in Gadget Sessions on Monday, September 11, 10 am - 12 noon, so if you have questions about your smart-phone or tablet, or any other gadget, bring them in and see if he can help you.
For more information on events or booking, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
