Trwyn Cynddeiriog or Furious Point, Carn Pen Beri or Kite's Head Rock, the Pembrokeshire coast is dotted with some wonderfully evocative Welsh place names. National Park ranger Phil Lees is keen to help visitors and local people to appreciate the richness of the language, and he is leading walks aimed at non-Welsh speakers to introduce them to the magical names. Phil Lees said: "Welsh descriptions of the coastline features are fabulous, and many of the names date back two thousand years or more. Understanding what they mean adds to our appreciation of the landscape." Phil is leading the first of the walks from Trefin on May 24, which is European National Parks Day. There will be further guided walks in July and September. To book a place on the walk, please contact the National Park Information Centre, Newport, on 01239 820912.
