TENBY2020 will be holding one of their regular open meetings at the De Valence next Thursday evening, November 4, at 7.30 pm. All residents and business people of the town and the surrounding area are invited. This meeting will focus on the future development of the tourism industry in Pembrokeshire, with Maureen Prentice, the new chief executive of Pembrokeshire Tourism, as the guest speaker. Maureen Prentice told the Observer: "My talk to TENBY2020 will take as its starting point that the grants that are now available, particularly Objective 1, give tourism in Pembrokeshire a fantastic opportunity to create its own future. "But what sort of future do we want? What future do we deserve? Are we going to end up with a grant culture, unwilling to do anything for ourselves without the incentive of public money? Or are we going to use the grants we currently have to mould a sustainable, independent future? "There will be a progress report on our own Objective 1 bid for the Tenby Town Partnership, and the development of Tenby Events Management Ltd., and the De Valence Trust. "Other matters relating to the economy and environment of the town can be raised by anyone attending, including this year's pedestrianisation scheme and the enhancement scheme for the High Street and Tudor Square." Chris Osborne, chair of TENBY2020, added: "This should be a most interesting meeting, and I hope that it will be well-attended. "This open meeting would normally be our AGM, but we have postponed that to February, to give us time to undertake a review of TENBY2020 as an organisation. Anybody with an interest in that review should get in touch with one of our officers."
