Sir, Tenby Cottage Hospital, until recently, was providing dental care for the children in the Tenby area for two days each week. Recently the dental chair was broken and it has now been recommended to senior management of the Community Services that the chair is replaced by one for podiatry only and that dental work is relocated to Pembroke, Haverfordwest, etc. This would mean the children of Tenby having to miss school to obtain treatment and also present serious difficulties to parents without transportation or who go out to work, with public transportation being the only other option; young children, however, could not use this option. I understand a new dental chair costs in the order of £8,000 - but this cost should be considered well worthwhile compared to the number of children missing school for perhaps a day to obtain treatment and the danger of some children travelling long distances alone. Tenby's services are continually being eroded, and as the major contributor per tax band than any other area in the county, surely it deserves something in return.
