CHANNEL 4 are making an important documentary, and are looking for people who are 70-plus to take part. The film is about people who were married in the 1930s, '40s and '50s and who found love outside their marriages.

Producer Melissa Blackburn explains: "The 1940s and '50s were an era when people often married very young or very quickly, particularly during the war. Quite often people who found themselves in an unhappy marriage were forced to look further for fun or more. However, in those days, divorce was difficult or impossible, and so often these affairs were shrouded in secrecy, much more than they are today.

"We're trying to find people who had this experience, perhaps they found the love of their life in this way, or saw their marriage dissolve because of an affair, or maybe they were just letting off steam. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who have a story to tell."

Clearly, this is a sensitive subject, and Melissa herself points out that some people may be concerned about coming forward.

"It's very understandable. But this is a serious social documentary using interviews and archive to make the past come alive, and to give a voice to the older generation. We particularly want to make sure that everyone gets to tell their story, men or women, black or white, gay or straight. And actually, our contributors often find taking part in our films an extremely rewarding experience.'
