Congratulations to Heatherton Indoor Bowling Club members, Chris Bromham, Alan Whitehouse, Mike Jackson and John Roberts who have chalked up success in the Welsh Indoor Bowls Association's rinks competition.

The quartet not only lifted the impressive Barry Trophy following their dramatic victory, but will now have the honour of representing Wales at the British Isles Championships next March.

Played at Sully IBC, the quartet went one better this year than two years ago when they agonisingly lost in the final by just one shot.

And it was a nailbiting finish again, but this time, it was the Heatherton four who lifted their first national title, bringing the trophy back to Pembrokeshire for the first time in its 45-year history.

The match, played on Sunday, had spectators on the edge of their seats. With the four-hour time allocation up and the scores against an all-international rink, of Daniel Salmon, Richard Morgan, Phil Rowlands and Mark Harding, of Cardiff IBC, level, the game went to an extra end, with Heatherton picking up that all-important match-winning shot.

Heatherton came close to reaching the pairs final too, with Chris and Alan being beaten in the semi-final against the eventual winners, current British Isles champions Owain Dando and Stewart Anderson, of Islwyn IBC.

Heatherton were presented with the trophy and commemorative plates by Welsh Indoor Bowls Association president, Peter Brill.
