Sir,

Having lived in Begelly all my life, I cannot understand why Begelly (with such attractions as Folly Farm etc.) doesn't even have its hedges and grass verges cut back on a regular basis, despite the fact that we have a local councillor living in the village. Kilgetty, on the other hand, not only has its hedges and verges trimmed regularly, it also has decent pavements to walk on. Whilst recently trimming a hedge on the main road for one of the oldest residents in Begelly, I came across several clumps of docks and thistles on the grass verge at least six feet high. People walking past were having to walk out onto the road, as the very narrow pavement was overgrown and virtually impassable. As a resident of Fir Grove I, like one or two other neighbours, trim the hedgebank fronting the main road, because if it were left to the council, we would take our lives in our hands every time we drive out of Fir Grove, as our view of the approaching traffic is already severely restricted due to the position of the hedgebank. Does there have to be a serious accident before anything is done about the overgrown hedges and verges in Begelly?

Mr. P. John, Begelly, Kilgetty.
