With just days to go, keen golfer, six-year-old Luke Harries, of Pembroke, is getting in his final practice before heading out to the States as part of Team HSBC Wee Wonders GB & I. Luke, along with 11 others of varying ages, qualified to be part of this year's team following their performance at the national final, played at St. Andrews, Scotland, last September. Luke, and the team, will be competing in the US Kids Golf World Championships 2006, which this year is being staged at Pinehurst, North Carolina - home of the 2005 US Open. Luke will be expected to play three 'medal' rounds over consecutive days, points scored going towards a possible individual and team prize. This is a great achievement at such a young age and the family would like to thank South Pembs. Golf Club, Mainport Engineering, Pembrokeshire Sports Council, Golf Development Wales and Pembroke Town Council for their generous support. A special thanks must also go to John Peters, head coaching professional, Machynys Peninsula Golf Club, Llanelli, and Kim Thomas, YMG Foundation golf professional, for all their structured coaching during this last year. Finally, good luck from all your family and friends
