Having negotiated the first half of the winter without a competition being called off, Tenby Seniors had to concede to the weather this Tuesday. Despite the horrendous forecast for storm force winds and torrential rain, 22 brain dead members turned up with the forlorn hope that the heavens might relent. Despite the horrendous weather, promptly at 9.30 am, Seniors captain Roy Morgan bravely led the first group to the tee. Roy, accompanied by Des Stone and Alan Yates, disappeared into the rain-lashed first fairway. The second group were somewhat wary about stepping into the tempestuous conditions raging around the warm clubhouse. However, despite seeing Alan Yates scurrying in sopping wet after completing just two holes, Jim Martin, Paul Nixon and David Lamb lost all sense and reason to tee-off some 45 minutes later. Even the sight of seeing Roy and Des coming the opposite way down the 18th did not deter them, although Des was not giving in. Having lost Roy after four holes, he then returned to the fold with Martin Neilan. Jim Martin offered the feeble excuse at the sixth that he had some work to do in the clubhouse and scurried back in, but Paul, David, Des and Martin went on the play the full 18 holes. Think there must be some prize given to them for gallantry or be committed to an asylum! Next week's competition will be another stableford eclectic and for the first time the draw was done electronically. Jim Martin brought his laptop in and in front of a small group of seniors the first ever computer random draw was done. The start times have been published to the seniors' web site and a printed copy on the notice board. Only those members who indicated they wished to play have been drawn and if your name is not on the start sheet and you wish to play, please add it to the end of list. To facilitate this method of draw, please put your name on the list on the seniors' board for the forthcoming dates.
