Fourteen members of Pembroke Ladies' Lifeboat Guild, who recently raised nearly £800 towards Tenby's new lifeboat station, spent over an hour this week admiring the building they helped to finance. The group visit on Monday gave everyone a chance to marvel at the technology that will assist the launching of the revolutionary Tamar class boat when it comes on station later in the year. Tenby lifeboat press officer, Bob James, and mechanic Steve Lowe were on hand to give the guided tour and answer a great many questions from the enthusiastic visitors. From the mechanic's workshop and crew training room on the boathouse level to the changing rooms, viewing area and RNLI souvenir gift shop on the gallery level, the whole structure was explored and praised. The beautiful evening also afforded a unique view of Tenby itself from above the slipway. Pembroke Guild chairman, Viv Kerrison, expressed everyone's thanks for the opportunity to visit the station. Guild members will continue to raise money for the RNLI when they hold a coffee morning at Angle Hall on Wednesday. As well as enjoying refreshments and patronising the raffle and various stalls, one of the main attractions will be the unique setting and visitors will be allowed to explore the lovely gardens and woodland walks that extend to the shore of Angle Bay. The event begins at 10.30 am, admission is £2, and everyone is most welcome to attend. Footnote: Those who have been running the Pembrokeshire appeal to raise £20,000 towards the construction of the new Tenby lifeboat station, will know very soon whether the target figure has been achieved. With money coming in from a number of sources, via different RNLI volunteer groups, the books are now being audited so that the final sum can be announced shortly. This does not, however, mean that further donations are not welcomed, as they will go towards the running of the new station!
