Tenby Town Council are hoping to find a handyman to help out with maintaining the town's gardens and environment in general during the summer season. The proposal was made after a recent meeting with Pembrokeshire County Council's head of municipal services, Mr. Brian Maddocks. Ten new benches are also to be brought into the town, replacing others that are in need of repair, which will be returned to PCC for refurbishment. The town clerk also revealed to councillors at Tuesday evening's meeting that PCC would be taking over the gardening contract in Tenby from Saturday, October 1. FOOTNOTE: Following correspondence from Pembrokeshire County Council stating that they would be terminating the tenancy granted to the council in respect of the Beatrix Potter Garden, The Croft, councillors held a meeting last week to discuss the issue. The tenancy had been granted back in 2002 to re- site the Beatrix Potter Garden at Tenby Town Council's expense, as the original site had been sold by the county council. Councillors agreed to accept the letter as formal notice of termination and to vacate the premises, with PCC prepared to offer the sum of £10,000 to assist the town council with establishing a new memorial garden.
