Wally the walrus is to have a Tenby ale brewed in his name after members of the public were asked by the owners of the coastal town’s microbrewery for some suitable suggestions.

With many wanting to pay homage to the walrus (nicknamed Wally) which has gained celebrity status since arriving at the seaside town in March, Tenby’s Harbwr Brewery have set about commemorating the Arctic visitor with a specially named ale, and asked people through their Facebook page for some ideas on what to name the brew.

The Arctic pale ale will be officially labelled Tamar’s Tusk - as the RNLI lifestation slipway which Wally has been calling home most days, houses Tenby’s Tamar class lifeboat.

The 4.8 per cent special ale will be brewed at the premises microbrewery on Sergeant’s Lane - before hopefully being served up over the coming weeks.
