Eleven Nordic Walkers met at Eagle Lodge car park in Canaston Woods on a glorious late autumn morning.
The weather was just perfect for the Nordic Walkers this week, with sunshine and no wind. Chris led the group down the hill on the Knight’s Way towards Blackpool Mill. The dappled sunlight shone through the trees, highlighting the golden leaves falling like confetti. From the mill, the walkers carried on through the woods to Canaston Bridge. They went through the A40 underpass to the northern side where they made a brief stop for coffee. Crossing back under the main road via the second underpass, they continued on part of the old road back to Blackpool Mill. They then retraced their steps up the hill on the Knights Way to the car park. They enjoyed lunch at the Boars Head in Templeton, which was the perfect end to a very enjoyable walk.
Saturday brought a calm morning, with more late autumn sunshine. 41 walkers gathered at Battery Gardens, including new walker Jane and guest Liz taking a break from the rigours of Tenby Blues Festival. Pat backed by Monica, led the larger Speedies group onto the south beach and headed for Castle Hill. Marlene supported by Chris, led the Steadies via the golf club to Black Rock. As they reached the south beach, the Speedies were out of sight, having gone around Castle Hill and on to the north beach. It was a delight walking towards the Tenby skyline in the sunny and windless conditions. When the Steadies reached Castle Square, the Speedies had already finished and were on the way to their favourite cafes. It had been a very pleasant and sociable walk, greatly enhanced by the unseasonably good weather.
Tomorrow, Saturday, there will be a choice of walks from Kilgetty to Saundersfoot. Please catch the 381 bus from Tenby at 9.45am. Drivers should park in Saundersfoot and catch the same bus at 9:57, from outside the amusement arcade. The walk will start around 10.30am from outside the RAOB club.
