A Whitland woman has recently published her first volume of poetry.

The publication, 'Waking up to Words', by Josephine Jenkins, of Spring Gardens, covers a range of interesting subjects, including Josephine's memories of childhood days whilst living in Velfrey Road.

"Writing poetry is something I have enjoyed and thought that some were worth putting in this small collection," said Josephine, a 76-year-old great-grandmother, who lists gardening amongst her main interests and belongs to her local gardening club.

She has also been secretary for Whitland Pensioners Association for the last four years, where she has enjoyed helping organise trips for the club members.

'Waking up to Words' is illustrated by choice photographs and sketches and is proving to be a popular read.
