The work in the community woodland project at Pembroke's Holyland wood got a fantastic boost last week thanks to the hard work of a group of Swansea teenagers who helped complete large sections of new footpath. In just a couple of hours the 15-strong team of youngsters managed to complete in the region of 150 yards of path. The volunteer work was part of a community 'give and take' scheme where in return for giving their time to community projects the group were rewarded with a visit to Twr y Felin to take part in a range of activities, including coasteering. The 'give and take' scheme is run by the detached youth work team which is part of the Swansea Youth Service. The team work with young people who are disengaged in their communities and the aim of this initiative is to help the young people to become more active members of their community. The community woodland project is just one of the schemes being developed by Pembroke 21C community Association. The members of the association were delighted with the help they received from the group from Swansea and from John Heffernan, volunteer co-ordinator Tanyard Youth Project, Pembroke, and Adam Cumine, Green Links Community Interest Company, Pembroke, who volunteered their time to help work with the visiting group.
