A volunteer with Hywel Dda Health Board has resigned as a protest at their continued lack of respect for locals and visitors' health needs in the area.

Forty-seven-year-old Clare Kitchen, of Tenby (pictured) has quit her role against the closure of the MIU in Tenby and Cardigan Hospital.

"When moving to Pembrokeshire, I planned and trained to serve both facilities," said Clare who formally submitted her letter to the health board this week.

"I am left bereft and powerless to make a contribution to the Pembrokeshire patients I care about. There is a lot of anxiety about how people will cope and what happens in an emergency. The health board are diluting confidence and faith in the service."

Despite two letters to First Minister for Wales Carwyn Jones at the National Assembly to intervene in the closures, Clare has had no response.
