A Newport woman has written to local AM Christine Gwyther complaining about the decline in behaviour on Tenby's streets.
Mrs. Carole Jones, of Abercarn, wrote to the AM saying that, while she and her family had been regular visitors to the town, they had now taken the decision not to come any more following their experiences this year.
In her letter, a copy of which had been sent to Tenby Town Council by Ms Gwyther, Mrs. Jones said that while walking around the town with her two children there had been a "number of occasions when they had had to walk around large crowds of drunken yobs using foul language."
She had had abuse shouted at her dog, which had upset her children, while they had also witnessed a "drunken young woman ripping off her top to reveal her breasts."
All this had occurred, Mrs. Jones claimed, between 2 and 3 pm.
"Because of this behaviour, we have decided not to frequent Tenby any more, which is a shame as we are regular visitors to the area on weekends and feel we contribute to the local community and shops," she wrote.
"Unfortunately, other people who have caravans in the Tenby area have also started to give Tenby town a wide berth, as most are family orientated with children and have experienced similar problems," Mrs. Jones continued.
"It is a shame that such a lovely place is blighted by a minority who do not contribute to the local community via tourism/shops but merely to the public houses."
Tenby town councillors agreed to write to Mrs. Jones stating that they took the situation very seriously and were trying to address the problems in conjunction with the police, LVA and local licensees.
Mrs. Jones also complained about the 'irresponsible' use of jet skis off the resort's shore, claiming that there had been a number of instances when they had "come in at high speeds just yards off the beach."
On one occasion people had to run out of the water to avoid being hit and she felt it was only a matter of time before someone sustained a serious injury.
Councillors agreed to speak to the harbourmaster, Mr. Carl Evans, on this matter as they believed the county council and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park were in the process of devising a policy regarding jet skis.
