Three weeks into this new and exciting project, children between the ages of seven and 17 are attending Sunday afternoon workshops with a view to follow their dream and perform on stage. The children are learning theatre techniques; acting, singing, dancing, stage skills, costume, lighting and sound; and will rehearse for a production to be performed at the De Valence in May. Over 50 children have joined the company, now called De Valence Young Performers, with the majority of these being in the seven to 11 age group. To enable the project to succeed, more children over the age of 11 would be welcome. Family membership is £15 a term, plus £2 per workshop each week. Calling all adults or older students interested in helping with the first performance in May - Help is needed with teaching dance and singing, costumes, props, backstage, scenery, operating a CD player, creating CDs, creating programmes, front of house, publicity etc. If you are able to help with any of these, please attend the first meeting on Sunday, January 29, at 4.30 pm, at the De Valence.
