There have been a few unusual visitors in Pembrokeshire recently, including a small dead loggerhead turtle found on Manorbier Beach last Wednesday, February 6. The strong south-westerly winds have delivered an unusual amount of marine turtles, both live and dead, to the British Isles this year and to date, 16 marine turtles have been reported around the UK and Republic of Ireland for 2008. The turtle at Manorbier (pictured) was in good condition and was recovered for post mortem examination within the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSIP). • To report any sightings of stranded or dead animals on the shore, telephone the 'answerphone' number 01348 875000, while further information can be found at http://www.strandings.com">www.strandings.com.
