A tragic incident along the Pembrokeshire coast has resulted in the death of one climber and injuries to two others during a major sea rescue operation. Emergency services, including helicopters and lifeboats, responded swiftly to the scene.
A major rescue operation was launched on Thursday afternoon (February 12), to an incident at St Govan's Head.
Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were contacted by the ambulance service at 4.25pm over concerns for the welfare of three people on the coast.
A helicopter, along with rescue teams from Fishguard, St Govan's and Tenby all attended the incident, as well as an Irish Coastguard helicopter and two Wales Air Ambulances.
Angle RNLI’s lifeboat crew were also on the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Dyfed-Powys Police were contacted by the ambulance service around 4.25pm, Thursday, February 12, reporting concerns for the welfare of three individuals at St Govan’s Head, Pembrokeshire.
“Officers were deployed to the location alongside multiple other agencies.
“Two were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
“Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
The police spokesperson said the death was not being treated as suspicious and the person's next of kin have been informed.
