Neglect of structures in Tenby town centre could lead to a serious accident waiting to happen if Pembrokeshire County Council doesn’t act - a local councillor fears.
Speaking at this month’s meeting of the Town Council (April 5) Cllr Charles Dale told his colleagues that ‘unsafe’ bollards positioned on the seaside town’s High Street pavement had been reported for some time now, but nothing had been done by the Local Authority to rectify them.
“They are loose and dangerous, and I see people every day go to put their hands on them to lean on. If a small child was to do the same and fall into the roadway under a lorry - then we all know who would be responsible for it!” remarked Cllr Dale, who runs a record store on the street.
“I’ve been on about it for about a year now!” he highlighted.
His fellow member Cllr Paul Rapi also pointed towards structures on the ‘zig-zag’ leading down towards the South Beach that had come into disrepair for some time.
“It looks pretty grim - and I cannot believe that one piece of fencing along this coastal area has still not been done,” he commented.
“There have been bollards there for over a year flagging this up, when surely it would be a case of just screwing something back in! People would have walked by that for the past 12 months and surely noticed.
“It’s simple things like that, that bring the town down!” added Cllr Rapi.
