Tenby United 42 pts. Cefneithin 22

Cefneithin kicked off in glorious sunny conditions and within five minutes were 6-0 down as Tom Lewis fired over two penalties awarded by referee Ludgate for infringements at the breakdown.

Eager to capitalise on this ideal start in Saturday's clash at Heywood Lane, Coastal Cottages sponsored Tenby reverted to all-out attack, but taking advantage of the lack of numbers at a breakdown situation, and an unguarded blind side, it was Cefneithin who scored next as winger Hevyn Peragrine was put clear by industrious scrum-half Daniel Bonar and he slid over wide out to narrow the scores to 6-5.

Undaunted, Tenby persevered and a score did come and it was fullback Toby Smith who provided the necessary spark as he drifted through the scrambling defence to go over the try line. Tom Lewis duly added the extras and Tenby went into the break 13-5 to the good.

In the final move of the first half, busy flanker Jason Ronowitz was injured and was replaced by Llaisa Torau.

The second half started with a searing break by Gavin Brace which laid the foundation for the second Tenby try of the afternoon when, after several attempts were made to cross the whitewash, newcomer to the fray, Llaisa Torau took the scoring pass, going over wide out for an unconverted try and an 18-5 lead.

Following some scrappy play at the first lineout, a loud blast on the whistle from referee Ludgate signalled an offence and Owain Lewis fired over the resultant penalty to narrow the gap to 18-8.

Replacements Lewis Davies and skipper Nicky Guymer were brought off the bench for Johnathan Palmer and Rob Clarke along with Dan Thomas, who took over at number nine from Richard Rossiter.

The remainder of the half went to plan, with Luke Dedman, Arthur M-M and Tom Lewis going over for tries, two of which were converted by Lewis, taking the score out to 37-8 against a tiring Cefneithin side, forced to play the entire game with their starting XV, as they opted for uncontested scrums having no recognised front row replacement on the bench.

Tenby took their foot off the pedal as the game drew to a close and were caught napping as, to their credit, Cefneithin sneaked in for a couple of tries courtesy of Sion Peragrine and Jamie Powell. With Lewis converting one of the efforts, the score closed to 37-20.

Toby Smith rounded off another good game, getting over the try line virtually at the death, and with the conversion sliding past the upright, Tenby ran out winners 42-22.

Tenby have an away fixture up at Llanybydder tomorrow (Saturday) and complete their two games a week stint with an away game at the Observatory ground, Milford Haven, next Wednesday, followed by a home game against Hendy at Heywood Lane on Saturday, April 16.

With several players returning or available for selection, it is hoped that the squad will cope with this surge of fixtures and be raring to go on the final three-week run-in to the end of the season, with challenging games away at Pembroke Dock and Cardigan and one home game against Amman United - the only league team to defeat Tenby so far this season..

Tenby fielded: Toby Smith, Arthur M-M, Gavin Brace, Delwyn Brace, Jimmy Davies, Tom Lewis, Richard Rossiter (Dan Thomas), Rob Clarke (Nicky Guymer), Terry John, Johnny Palmer (Lewis Davies), Wyndham Williams, Luke Dedman, Harry Bolton, Scott Payne; Jason Ronowitz (Llaisa Torau).
