Klezmer is the celebratory and soulful music of the Jews of eastern Europe, by turns wildly exuberant, passionate and heart-breakingly sorrowful.

Pembrokeshire music lovers will have a chance to hear this unique musical style when one of Britain's top klezmer bands comes to Burnett's Hill Chapel, Martletwy, next week.

The London Klezmer Quartet is a dynamic group of performers whose deep understanding of the musical form has captivated audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

The group plays old and new traditional material guaranteed to move audiences from toe-tapping to tears and back again in moments.

The London Klezmer Quartet was formed in 2009 by a group of klezmer specialists keen to explore the almost-lost wedding music tradition of Jewish eastern Europe. Since then the band has been at the forefront of the klezmer revival in Britain, performing at venues and festivals all over the country and also touring Australia, playing to packed houses in six states and headlining the National Folk Festival in Canberra two years running.

The band comprises four of Europe's most talented klezmer musicians who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and excitement to their performances.

They are Ilana Cravitz (violin), Susi Evans (clarinet), Carol Isaacs (accordion) and Indra Buraczewska (double bass).

The quartet recently released a new CD to great acclaim in the music press.

The concert at Burnett's Hill is on Thursday, October 30, 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from Main Street Music, Pembroke.
