THIS month, Oriel Q Gallery at the Queen's Hall in Narberth will be mounting their popular Winter Open Exhibition. The work will include landscape and coastal scenes from Andrea Kelland, the energetic maritime paintings of Osi Rhys Osmond and the realist work of Geoff Yeomans. Also included will be the colourful landscapes of Warren Heaton, new work by Guy Manning, Roy Ayres and Martin White, Goff Danter and Christine Kinsey. The work, 40 pieces at the time of writing, which will be for sale, will include oils, acrylics, watercolour, photographs and ceramics. There will also be a video by Mike Davies and sculptures in various media. Also in Oriel Fach, the intriguing and joyful wire and sewn metal work of Julia Griffiths Jones, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, will be shown. "Some people see wire as a tool to construct barriers, but I think of it as a way of breaking them down," Julia said. Influenced by the work of Alexander Calder and based on domestic life, Eastern European folk costume and embroidery, this is the first exhibition of Julia's work in Pembrokeshire and will delight many. Lynne Crompton, manager of Oriel Q, who has selected the exhibition, said: " I am delighted to have been able to draw so many talented and successful artists all together at the same time to Oriel Q for what will be an excellent show and a great round-up to 2006 in what has been our most successful year at the gallery yet." They are also holding a few late-night openings with mulled wine, the first of which will be on Friday, November 24, until 8 pm. The exhibition runs from November 11 to December 23. The gallery is open Wednesday - Saturday, 10 am - 5 pm, and most Tuesdays. Telephone to check on (01834) 869454.
