Tenby Golf Club entered the Champion of Champions competition, organised by the Golf in Wales Organisation, for the first time this year. The organisation is a select group of 17 quality Golf Clubs throughout Wales.
There were three competitions, the Men's Scratch, the Ladies' Scratch and a team competition. They were played on the challenging Wales National Course at the Vale of Glamorgan resort on Sunday, October 2. Unfortunately, the Men's Scratch competitors were unavailable to play on this day, but Holly Watkins represented the club in the Ladies' Scratch competition and came in a worthy winner.
In the team event, which included two men, a lady and a junior, Tenby were represented by their captain David Leeke, Stephen Davies, Heather Morgan and Chris Davies. It was a Stableford competition where the two best scores counted on each hole. They played well as a team and this was typified on the last hole where three of the team each had a par putt to each score three points. They finished one under par with 73 points, which was good enough to win the competition.
The reward for all five winners was two cups and a voucher entitling each member to play all the courses in the organisation as a fourball over the next 12 months.
Well done to all who participated!
