A group of five students from Pembroke School recently attended the annual Anna Frank Peace Week held in Bergen, Germany.
The towns of Pembroke and Pembroke Dock have been twinned with Bergen in Lower Saxony, Germany, since 1977.
The group, led by teacher Justin Griffiths, were the first from Pembroke School to be represented at this annual event.
Clr. Brinn, chairman of the Pembroke Dock and Pembroke Joint Twinning and Tourism Committee, was delighted that students were able to attend this event.
Clr. Brinn stated: "I wish to extend my grateful thanks and appreciation to the head teacher, Mr. Frank Ciccotti, and to teachers Mrs. Jane Jones and Mr. Justin Griffiths for all their help, support and endeavours in making this visit possible".
This annual event held in Bergen provides a series of workshops and lectures in memory of Anna Frank who died at Belsen during World War Two.
The students also visited the Belson Memorial where thousands of victims died during the holocaust.
The students met with students from the other twin towns that Bergen has a twinning or friendship agreement with and this enabled them to form friendships with other European students and learn a little about their languages and culture and foster the bond of European kinship.
