Now that the orders for this year's pedestrianisation scheme have been published, Tenby Walled Town Residents' Association (TWTRA) have called a public meeting so that local people can air their views.
The meeting will be held tonight (Friday), at 7.30 pm, in Church House in Upper Frog Street.
"The whole exercise could be wonderful for those who like pedestrianisation, but woeful for those who don't," said Richard Walker, chairman of TWTRA.
"It's an important meeting since this year's extended scheme - over twice as long as last year's and intended to be permanent - will impact on the lives of many more people. And not just the Walled Town Residents; anyone who needs to use the bank or dry cleaners or harbour will effectively have just the first two hours of the working day to do this during July and August for access by car. This will also be enforced throughout every weekend."
TWTRA are also concerned about some of the potential inconsistencies in the orders.
"We were given assurances that the 'Meals on Wheels' service would be exempt, but the orders make no mention of this, nor of access for medical staff or carers," continued Mr. Walker. " The Post Office is allowed to collect and deliver postal packets, but other couriers won't be.
"And, despite huge concern from those who own and run holiday lets in town, no provision has been made for the anticipated problems on changeover days.
"The county council want any comments on their proposals by May 12, so there's some urgency to respond."
Also on the agenda will be discussions of TWTRA's position on joining The Walled Town Friendship Circle and on the notion that Tenby should be twinned with a French town.
All are welcome at the meeting.
