Sir,
Last Sunday, I arrived in Narberth and parked on the loading bay in front of my shop, The Malthouse, Narberth, with the intention of unloading stock for the shop, the same as I have done for the past 15 years.
I was instantly pounced upon by a civil parking enforcement officer who informed me I could not park on the loading bay as it was illegal and I would be issued a ticket. The officer also stated that no-one can now use the loading bay to load or unload unless they are in a HGV.
The only access to my shop is from the main road and from the loading bay. It has been used by retailers in the Malthouse and customers to load for 15 years and now due to new traffic enforcement from the council, it can not be.
The Malthouse has 19 individual retail businesses and five staff. If we are forced to close directly due to the civil parking enforcement in Narberth, 24 jobs, plus mine, will be lost.
In my opinion, very narrow-minded and short-sighted from our governing council.
Andrew Griffiths,
Malthouse Antiques,
Back Lane,
Narberth.
