There was some blooming marvellous news for South Pembrokeshire when the coveted Wales in Bloom awards ceremony took place recently in Rhyl.

In the 'Small Country Town Trophy' class, Tenby was first with a Silver Gilt, achieving 162 points, with Tenby in Bloom chairman, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, on hand to collect the award.

Meanwhile, in the 'Hotels, Guest and Public Houses and Restaurants' class, Tenby's Giltar Hotel came joint first, with gardener Simon Rowlands also at the ceremony to receive the accolade.

In the 'Caravans, Camping and Holiday Homes section for sites under 100 units', Lydstep Beach Holiday Village came second with 78 points, with Roy Edge amongst those from the park in attendance at the presentations.

The RHS Britain in Bloom awards take place tomorrow (Saturday), at St. Peter Port, Guernsey, with Tenby in Bloom committee members Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane and Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, attending the ceremony to see if the resort can enjoy success in the 'Coastal Up to 12k' category.
