Tributes have been paid to Narberth’s most senior resident who has sadly passed away.
103-year-old Gwen Hood died at her home at Williams Court on December 14.
Narberth Mayor, Clr. Chris Walters who joined Gwen when she was one of the stars of the town’s carnival parade in the summer, travelling in style in an open-topped Mini around the procession circuit, has paid tribute to her in his New Year message.
“On a more saddened note, I must pay tribute to Mrs. Gwen Hood who was Narberth’s eldest resident at the grand age of 103 who recently passed away,” he said.
“This summer I had the honour of celebrating her fantastic achievement at Narberth Civic Week. Mrs. Hood was someone who was always willing to support local events within the town I must say is a huge loss to the community.
“I send my condolences to the family of Mrs. Hood not only as Mayor but as Chairman of Narberth Civic Week,” he added.
Predeceased by her husband Lance, Gwen leaves to mourn her daughter Shirley, son-in-law Roy, and sister May and family.
The funeral service will be held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium in Narberth on Monday (December 30) at 10.45 am.
