The deadline for entries to the 2008 Mazda London Triathlon is June 16. National charity Meningitis Research Foundation has a few places left for keen athletes wanting to be part of the world's biggest triathlon event. The two-day event runs on August 9-10, with a variety of distances to suit every triathlete. On August 9, the sprint and super sprint races will take place, with the olympic and sub two-and-a- half hour races on August 10. The varied distances mean that whether you're a seasoned triathlete or attempting your first competitive event, there's a race to suit you. Your entry to the race is free - simply raise the minimum amount of sponsorship (£500) and your costs will be covered. The race starts and finishes in London's ExCel conference centre. The swim section takes place in the Royal Victoria Dock before the transition to the bike and run sections on the streets of London. If you'd like to compete for Meningitis Research Foundation, contact the fundraising team on 01454 281814 or email [email protected]">[email protected] They'll send you a pack containing a training schedule, running vest and sponsorship forms. The money you raise will help Meningitis Research Foundation continue to fund research into meningitis and septicaemia - the blood poisoning form of the disease - raise awareness of these illnesses, and provide support to those affected.
