Pro's Say 'Thankyou'
Last Saturday PGA head professional Oliver Duckett and his assistant James Maxwell invited members to take part in the their first Professionals Day at Trefloyne.
The day was set up by Oliver to say thank you to the members for their support throughout the year. With no entry fee, all prizes were donated by the Pro-Shop and its suppliers.
On a damp and blustery morning, over 60 members arrived in their wet weather clothing to take part in a Texas Scramble (teams of four event). All members were assured that the weather would get better and sure enough (as you'll see from our picture) the clouds dispersed and the sun shone.
Considering the strong breeze which was continuous throughout the day, the scores returned were of a very high standard.
Second place went to J. Mazurcak, P. Evans, P. Mazurcak and D. Knifton with a fantastic nett 57.8. For a long time this looked like an unbeatable score, but the last card in proved us all wrong. Junior captain Greg Palin and his dad Jason, along with Dan Edwards and Robin Lloyd returned a gross 62, nett 56 to take the honours by 1.8 shots. A score surely to take some beating in the future.
Gents longest drive went to Steff Jones, with nearest the pin won by Justin Mazurcak. Ladies nearest the pin was won by Anna Hubbard.
To conclude the day, Oliver thanked the members once again for their support, as well as congratulating Gareth and his team on the standard of the course throughout the year.
