Sixteen members of Trefloyne Golf Club went on an away day on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 14 and 15 (writes G. H.). We all travelled to Cradoc Golf Club for the first tee-off time of 11 am.

After everyone met in the clubhouse, the day started with everyone having bacon, egg, sausage, rolls and coffee. Teams were then picked and everyone put on wet weather kit as the forecast was not too good. As none of Trefloyne players had played at Cradoc before, we all started off even.

The first three went off consisting of Graham Harrison, Alex Evans and Derek Jones. All three managed to hit the first fairway and the rest of the party followed. The course for the time of year was very good and all managed to come back dry as the weather turned out to be good.

After a few beers in the clubhouse and some more bacon rolls, we travelled to the Lion Hotel in Builth Wells where we had booked dinner/bed and breakfast.

The results for Caradoc were: 1. Pat Casement with 40 points; 2. Graham Harrison, 37 pts (on count back); 3. Barry Wood, 37 pts. Longest drive: Mel Neale. Nearest pin: Derek Jones.

It was unfortunate for Pat that we had the handicap secretary Trevor Lewis with us and Pat was docked one point for his 40 points. Prizes for the day were given to the winners by Graham Harrison.

We all sat down to our evening dinner in the Lion, which I can say everyone really enjoyed, and the food was excellent, after which we all adjourned to the bar for a few beers.

The next morning, after a fantastic breakfast, we travelled to Builth Golf Course which was not very far away. The teams remained the same from the previous day. Yet again none of the players had played this course before so after some questions about the course to try and ascertain some local knowledge, we all set off. The weather for the day remained dry which was appreciated by all.

Everyone had a good game, but it was said by some that there were a few tricky holes. The course again was very good and the results for our second day were: 1. Pat Casement, 36 points (playing off new handicap); 2. Derek Jones, 36 pts; 3. Darrel Jones, 34 pts. Longest drive was again Mel Neale. Nearest pin was Graham Harrison, somebody watching told Graham that it was nearly a hole in one - lucky Graham. There were also four 2s.

Graham thanked everyone for coming and hoped they had enjoyed the fixture. He asked everyone to thank John James, our captain, for arranging the trip. John then presented all the winners with their prizes for our second day.

The overall winner for the two courses was of course Pat Casement - hope you don't get too drunk with your three bottles of whisky!

Barry Wood, on behalf of all the players, then thanked John for arranging the trip and Graham for organising it.

Graham wished everyone a safe journey back home and we all then dispersed to our various destinations.

Dyfed League

For the first part of the year/season, it was very touch and go for the Dyfed League team, at Trefloyne.

They did, however, manage to scrape some home wins, a few away draws and even an away victory.

By the end of the season, they managed to stay quite close to everyone else with a healthy total points score of 57.

Dyfed League captain, Simon Arthur said: "Next season is going to be just as challenging so I hope to see all those regular faces (you know who you are). I think Trefloyne deserves to be where they are in the league and will be a force to be reckoned with next season."

Simon would like to say a big thank you to all the league members, especially the regulars and who knows, maybe a few new faces may show up for next season. See you next year.
