Daily Mail Team Championship

On Sunday, February 17, a five-man team was picked to play for the first time in the Daily Mail Team Championship. They were drawn to play away at Ashburnham. The team consisted of Simon Arthur, Dave Crowley, Meurig Evans, Gary Hopkins and Gareth Roberts. Although they lost all five matches, Trefloyne certainly had their chances. Meurig and Gareth lost only on the last; Simon had been six up after eight holes, only for his opponent to come back with a vengeance to win two up. Unfortunately, they didn't qualify for the next round, but hopefully the experience gained, for the club, will take us one more round next year. Well done men and apologies to Meurig for last week's comment - I know you're a good player, really.

Future events

Junior Calender: Sunday, March 9 - junior/adult 12- hole (the list is in the pro-shop already and is slowly filling-up, but there's still time to get your name down); March 30 - nine and 18-hole stableford, tee-off 9 am; April 2 - 12-hole Texas Scramble, tee-off 1.30 pm, followed by a new members meeting/evening; April 13: nine and 18- hole monthly medal, tee-off 9 am; May 11 - nine and 18-hole stableford; May 31 - Captain's Day. Entry forms for the junior opens are up in the pro- shop, along with full details and forms for all future competitions, or just talk to Chris. Draw for the 2008 matchplay competitions is planned for April 18. Entry lists are in the pro-shop now, along with full details. There will also be one for the ladies coming shortly. A reminder is given that Christine is having a ladies' taster day on Sunday, March 16, at 10.30 am. There will be one hour of tuition, followed by morning tea, after which you will have a chance to sign up for the course of lessons funded by the Welsh Foundation. As promised, the Winter League has been replaced by the 'Men's Spring League.' This will run from March 2 to March 26. It's open to all male members, including juniors. There will be two divisions and it will be the best of five cards. Entry is £5 and you must enter in the shop before you play your first round.

JOP Easter Cups

Running over the Easter weekend between March 21-24, these are open to all full members, ladies, men and juniors. There will be two cups, one for ladies, one for men. It's an individual stableford. Entry will be £4 per player to cover two rounds to be played at anytime over the weekend. More details and entry list are in the pro-shop.

INVITATION DAY

Friday, May 16. This is for teams of four and is open to all, including non-members. It's a chance to play with your mates and have a great day. Entry is £120 per team. Forms will be in the pro-shop shortly and you can speak to Chris about entering your team. Also, we are looking for anyone or company interested in sponsoring a hole for the day.
