Sir,

My wife and I have followed the debate regarding the proposed traffic ban in Tenby in August with great interest. We have been regular visitors for the past 20 years, having our own caravan in the area in which we spend about two months each year, including the winter. We truly love the area and will never stop returning.

We have always avoided Tenby completely in August. Due to traffic and uncontrolled illegal parking, it's utterly horrendous to walk around. Illegally parked cars make it impossible to get out of the way of the barrage of traffic with which the pedestrian is constantly in conflict.

Standing at the junction of the Norton and White Lion Street (controlled by 'No Entry except for access' signs), it's staggering to see the number of cars which pass through this sign (illegally), only to return five minutes later after a lap of Tudor Square, during which time they have compounded the problem for the great number of people who have taken the trouble to park legally outside the town and walk in.

Traffic bans have been implemented in many towns over the past few years by local authorities around the country. Initial storms of protest have been followed by simple adjustments in working practices on the part of local businesses, which have normally fitted in successfully with these bans.

We cannot wait to visit Tenby in August and not be inconvenienced by traffic and support the traffic ban wholeheartedly. We hope that local businesses will find their way of blending in with the ban, thereby making Tenby a far more attractive place to visit.

Tenby will GAIN at least two visitors because of the traffic ban - how many more?
