The forthcoming 'Tour of Pembrokeshire Cyclosportive' was featured last October, and the organisers have been busy ensuring that the first annual event is a success. Chairman, Bryan Jones, said: "The ride takes place on Sunday, June 8, and will be the biggest cycling event ever held in the county. It is seen as a tremendous opportunity to attract participants and their families from all over the UK and to date over 370 cyclists have registered with 60 per cent living outside Wales." The organisers are very appreciative of the assistance received so far, in particular from the main sponsors Chevron, Folly Farm and Lydstep village. Details of the event can be found on http://www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk">www.tourofpembrokeshire.co.uk, and includes route maps and instructions on how to enter. The long route of 116 miles, is a circumnavigation of Pembrokeshire, with a shorter route of 64 miles also available. Committee man Tim Brace said: "The long route has been ridden by very experienced national cyclists and their accounts have been published nationally and on our website, with the route being described as an exciting challenge." The event has already attracted some of the best amateur cyclists in Britain and even some entrants from overseas. The organisers are hoping that the Pembrokeshire people will familiarise themselves with the route and are encouraged to cheer on the riders. Any funds raised are to be donated to the Wales Air Ambulance and anyone wishing to donate is welcome to send their contributions to Tour of Pembrokeshire, c/o Merryhill, St Brides Lane, Saundersfoot.
